Katherine enjoys various volunteer engagements including coaching women leaders in the Yorga Djenna Bidi Program and coaching graduates of the Emerging Aboriginal Leaders Program (both through WAALI - WA Aboriginal Leadership Institute), chairing the board at Churchlands Senior High School, and mentoring for Kaleidoscope and for the Office of Multicultural Interests’ Leadership and Governance Program. My Why

I am passionate about passing on my knowledge and experience to others in creative, energetic learning environments with a great sense of humour. I love it when a person’s eyes grow wide with understanding, and they experience the ‘aha’ moment!

How I work

I approach each engagement with curiosity and a partnership approach. “I had the privilege of participating in several coaching sessions with Katherine. She is a skilled coach with great listening skills who came well prepared to every session. By asking deep and probing questions, she helped me focus my attention on strengths to build on and areas of weakness to improve as I was preparing to return to paid work after a couple of years of absence. The sessions were engaging and gave me the confidence boost I needed.” Marianne Yrke, Senior Policy Officer

“I became engaged with Katherine Sturley via the International Coaching Federation in an effort to support me with a transitional period of my involvement with a mental health and wellbeing charity that I founded in 2018. Katherine provided exactly the support and guidance I needed to progress my personal, professional, and business goals with MyLocalMind Inc. As a result, the organisation was able to achieve significant milestones under my leadership and I was able to transition into a more appropriate professional role that better fit my skillset. Thank you!” Dr Kaine Grigg BAS MAPS, Founder/Executive Officer, MyLocalMind Inc.

“Katherine is professional and provides unique guidance to our leadership team as a senior leader coach. We always look forward to our sessions with Katherine who can strike a good balance between listening and asking good questions to guide us on our way. She has been working with Metso Outotec over the last three years.” Lizelle Masson, Senior HR Manager (Metso Outotec)

What I do

I passionately embrace a partnership approach to coaching, applying powerful questioning to unlock a client’s potential by opening new perspectives and uncovering thinking that encourages a growth mindset. I draw on skills gained as a Master of Business Leadership to equip leaders with frameworks and models to tackle challenges in innovative ways to generate meaningful and sustainable outcomes. Clients appreciate my caring, listening approach when consulting on issues such as improving leadership and team performance.

What I love

I love working on body, mind, and spirit. Body by keeping fit through activities such as hiking, mountain biking, skiing and Pilates. Mind by finding calm through mindfulness meditation, centring myself at yoga, and by continuously learning. Spirit by being kind to others, enjoying the beauty in life including my wonderful family and friends, and by being grateful for life’s endless gifts.
