Simone has worked across all areas of human resources, organisational development, training and leadership development. She has a purposeful and holistic approach to coaching, facilitation, culture, feedback and leadership development.

Background

I have over 25 years of coaching, strategic human resources, workforce planning, organisational development and education experience.  My experience spans as an individual contributor, consultant and senior leader with international private sector organisations, Australian educational sectors and the Australian Public Service.

Over my career I have used my skills as a coach, facilitator, trainer and advisor to work with private clients, organisations, CEOs and boards in leadership development, workforce planning and strategy, talent and succession. I use my deep knowledge of coaching psychology to focus on factors of motivation and engagement particularly through difficult or change processes. My specialist areas include personal and leadership executive coaching, development programs, organisational restructuring, workforce planning strategies, effective organisational culture management and behavioural change management.

I enjoy working with individuals and Australian and international businesses to develop leadership and professional capabilities to uplift workforces for the future. In 2021 my work in developing the framework and programs to build leadership capability in Australia was recognised with the inaugural international HR Impact award from Northrop Grumman (a leading US billion-dollar global aerospace, defence and security company).

My professional qualifications include Master of Science (Coaching Psychology) (2023), Graduate Diploma of Education (2000), Bachelor of Business (HR & Psychology) (1998), Diploma of Business (1995). Professional courses and accreditations include Fellow, McLean Harvard Medical School Affiliate, Professional Member, International Coaching Federation, Certified Professional, Australian HR Institute, Licensed Practitioner Motivational Maps, Mental Health First Aider, and Trainer DDI Targeted Selection.

My Why

I am passionate about integrating psychological theories from positive psychology into my coaching and consulting practice. This desire to work with people to directly impact change has driven me to undertake my Masters in Coaching Psychology from University of Sydney.

As a natural extrovert, I use my vibrant and engaging manner to build relationships based on openness and trust which allow me to connect equally well with all levels of people within diverse organisations. I use my professional and personal experiences with knowledge in applying in evidence-based positive coaching psychology practices, to enable people and organisations to meet personal and business objectives (despite what this modern-day world throws at them).

How I work

I believe that the quality of a conversation, determines the quality of relationships, which ultimately determines the quality of systems and organisations that we live and work within. I specialise in working with clients on the ‘below the surface’ issues and unpacking these in a psychologically safe manner so that individuals and teams feel more valued, heard and engaged at work.

My mantra is that we are always growing, and all experiences provide an opportunity to reflect and develop. I use cognitive development principles with individuals and teams to focus on individual growth and to build capability as leaders. When coaching, I work collaboratively with individuals so they can build their own bespoke strategies that boost resilience and behaviour change. Facilitating workshops and strategy sessions is a joy particularly as I have an opportunity to connect with participants, create a safe and fun environment, and develop some actionable strategies.

I worked with Simone on some complex people and culture issues in an NFP organisation where I was board chairman. I found her wise counsel and professional support invaluable in formulating the appropriate response and determining new people strategies and policies to take the organisation forward.

Organisational Psychologist

What I do

I am the Managing Director of Citron Consulting, a coaching and consulting company located in Canberra ACT. I provide bespoke HR/OD and coaching psychology services with clients across Australia, APAC and the US. High performing professionals and leaders will often engage me to work with them on individual, organisational and development goals. I also focus on capability development and am often engaged to undertake functional reviews to develop workforce strategies, design organisational structures and develop cultural frameworks. Organisations often engage me for facilitating leadership workshops, reviewing and writing workforce responses to tenders, undertaking complex investigations or to design behavioural transformational change initiatives.

I am also particularly interested in building high performing teams, enabling diversity, recovery from burnout and implementing solutions for work life balance in psychologically safe environments. My currently research focus is on anxiety contagion in the workplace through which I have developed a coaching model using positive psychology principles.

Working together in partnership my focus is:

  • Building positive and engaged individuals, teams and workplaces

  • Assist leaders to simplify issues when it all seems to complicated

  • Encourage leaders to focus on strategic goals and achieving them

  • Understand and develop organisational and individual capabilities

  • Train and inspire leaders and employees

  • Challenge individuals, teams and leaders when they need challenging

What I love

When I am not running a ‘mum taxi’ for my teenagers, you will find me walking daily with my cavalier and using that opportunity to listen to podcasts or music. As an active person I love being busy socialising with friends which could range from a movie and dinner catch up through to a night out at the Opera. I also enjoy outdoor hiking and one day plan to walk the Camino de Santiago (or stages of it) and the Bibbulman Trail.
