Alan has 10 years’ experience as a WA Government Director General and CEO leading large organisations with diverse and complex services, significant human service delivery challenges, major change programs and significant infrastructure developments.

Alan has extensive management and leadership experience with an engineering background and a passion for practical strategies, which achieve good results in complex programs and projects.
In his Justice role he managed significant internal health services, services for Aboriginal people and significant clinical, forensic psychiatric social programs and training and skills programs as well as counselling and rehabilitation programs.

He graduated as the equal top student in his MBA program. Alan is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (Australia), Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and a Senior Member of the Australian Computer Society.
Alan has significant senior executive and consulting experience. As Director General of the WA Department of Justice from 1998 to 2005 he led a complex department composed of seven different organisations. Courts and prisons were the largest services in Justice and required a conscious range of leadership styles to match the different cultures and management requirements of these very different organisations. In this role Alan was responsible for 4500 staff and a budget of approximately $600m. He delivered complex policy change with difficult stakeholder issues including the innovative new State Administrative Tribunal, Boronia women’s prison and prisoner work camps. Alan also delivered major projects for the new Acacia prison and the District Court Public Private Partnership.
From 1994 to 1998 Alan was CEO of the peak goods and services and building infrastructure contracting agency. In this role he was responsible for all building infrastructure delivery, and major government procurement
Alan has nine years consulting experience across Australia. This includes from 2007 to 2014 as a senior executive for the delivery of the $2bn Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) and State Rehabilitation Project, covering development of the FSH construction and the $4.5bn FM and non-clinical services contract framework and negotiated key contracts. Alan contracted as Chief Information Officer of WA Health, responsible for a $600m e-Health program and $80m annual operational services. Alan has also worked nationally on property, review, infrastructure and e-health consulting projects.
