Training the Next Generation of Leaders


Sometimes the best way to create change in your leaders is to bring in the expertise from the industry leaders in your local business environment. The experience and professionalism these leaders can share in producing extraordinary results in business can bring about profound shifts in understanding and problem solving. Academic institutions often fail to provide the real-world experience necessary in a constantly changing economic climate and graduates can sometimes find themselves ill-prepared to face the reality of business in Perth.

Today’s fast paced and complex business environment requires leaders to find new and innovative ways to develop their leadership and strategic management capabilities. Our Advanced Management Program is aimed at developing senior and middle level managers who want to find new ways of leading for enhanced effectiveness in today’s dynamic business context.

To assist in creating the most dynamic learning experience we have recruited the expertise of some of Perth’s most respected business leaders. The following brief summary profiles serve as a short introduction to each member of the presentation team for 2012.

Clive Stein

Managing Director

Amcom Telecommunications Ltd.

Clive has been Managing Director of Amcom since September 2007 and its Chief Executive Officer since July 2007. Prior to this, Clive served as the Chief Operating Officer after joining Amcom in 1999 as General Manager.

Clive’s previous positions include; State Manager of AWA Limited – a major Australian communications manufacturer, and General Manager of an electronic communications company which developed, manufactured and distributed products and services to the healthcare industry throughout Australia and South East Asia. Prior to Clive served as Software Services Business Manager of Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) in New Zealand.

He has 25 years international experience in the electronics, computer and communications industries. His career, which began in the electronics industry in South Africa, has also included a number of engineering positions. (Repeated information from above).

Julie de Jong

Executive Director
Industry, Science and Innovation Division
Department of Commerce WA

Julie de Jong is the newly appointed Executive Director of the Industry, Science and Innovation Division, after being initially appointed as Acting Executive Director in 2009. Prior to the establishment of the Department of Commerce in 2009, Julie was the Director of the Innovation Industries Directorate in the Department of Industry and Resources. In this role she successfully led the Directorate through a period of significant organisational change and developed a strategic focus aligned with Government priorities for industry and innovation.

Previously, Julie worked in management roles within the Office of Aboriginal Economic Development in a variety of locations around the State. She has a thorough understanding of the concerns within regional communities for sustainable economic opportunities and the need to maximise community benefits from economic strengths. Julie holds an Arts Degree in History and Politics from the University of Western Australia.

Damien Eves

ABN Group

Starting in Sales Administration, Damien commenced with Dale Alcock Homes in 1994, he then progressed to the General Manager of Dale Alcock Home Improvement, before starting Celebration Homes in 2002. The impressive performances of the companies Damien has managed over the last 10 years resulted in his promotion to CEO for the Group in 2008, where he works closely with both the Directors and the senior management team to oversee the operations and provide strategic direction for the ABN Group of Companies.

Ron Cacioppe

Managing Director

Integral Development

Ron is the Managing Director of Integral Development and a Senior Consultant and holds a BSc, an MBA and a PhD. He has taught in the Graduate School of Management at Macquarie University, Curtin University and the University of Western Australia.

Ron has held a number of professorial positions, including the Australian Institute of Management’s Professor of Leadership. He teaches at MBA level in the areas of Leadership Effectiveness, Leading and Facilitating Teams, Managing Strategic Change and Philosophy and Leadership. Ron has been a leadership and organisational development consultant for over thirty years, working with business, government and not-for-profit organisations in the Australia, Asia and the United States. He is well known for his innovative approach to leadership development and his ability to ensure maximum transfer of learning to the workplace.

Lynda Folan


Integral Development

Lynda is a senior consultant with Integral Development who holds a BA Honours, Masters in Organisational Psychology and is presently completing her Doctorate in Organisational Psychology (Leadership) at Murdoch University.

She has a successful track record of strategically developing and managing International Human Resource functions coupled with a broad range of consultancy experience and extensive experience in Leadership Development, Organisational Development, Team Evolution, Coaching and Strategic Facilitation.

Lynda has held international executive level Human Resources positions with: The Number (International Telecoms Company employing over 10,000 employees), Arcadian International Hotel Group (A subsidiary of Wyndam International), The Hard Rock Café International, Hasbro International (Toy company) and Tesco Stores Ltd (British Retail group with over 150,000 employees). Her areas of corporate experts and major achievements lie in Organisational Development, Change Management and Leadership Development.

John Mitchell


Integral Development

John holds a Masters Degree in Leadership and Management, with distinction, from the Curtin University Graduate Business School.

He has extensive experience working in complex and challenging environments at an executive level in both the public and private sectors. This experience includes terms as Executive Director Corporate Services in the Ministry of Justice, Director Strategic and Business Services in the Department of Contract and Management Services, General Manager of the Central Great Southern Health and Aged Care Services, Director Prison Operations at WA Department of Corrective Services and four years as Chief Executive Officer of the Rottnest Island Authority. John also has experience as a manager in the construction industry and formally worked for a number of years in the United Kingdom Civil Service were he also held senior positions. For the last five years John has worked as a management consultant and coach.

Pete Coop

Senior Consultant

Integral Development

Born in Manchester in the UK, Pete has 35 years business experience at the sharp end. Beginning his career at the shop floor level he quickly moved up through the business and management ladder. He has 10 years experience in the corporate Telco Sector, in a senior management position for ITT, Motorola and Vodafone.

At 29 years of age, Pete became the youngest Senior Manager in the history of the Racal Group (Owners of Vodafone). Vodafone went onto be the biggest mobile player in the world as a result of the strong start up base that was developed in the UK.

Pete has worked in a wide variety of sectors from SME’s to Corporates, Public and Private, High to Low Tech, Manufacturing and Service. Pete also has a strong understanding and track record within the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (E,P&C) sector. Initially based in the UK Pete went onto deliver change in Hungary, Sweden, France, Rio, Cape Town, China and now resides in Western Australia. His clients have included Bechtel ,Epson, GEC, Allied Signal, Epwin Group and DA Stuart OIL.
