Executive Coaching: Pathways to Clarity


If we were pressured to come up with one word to describe the biggest benefit of our executive coaching programs in Perth, it would be “clarity.” The purpose of executive coaching isn’t to teach anything by rote, but to help the “coachee” uncover the answers that he or she already has.

This is usually accomplished by asking a series of questions that helps the executive discover those answers independently. A great executive coach asks simple but pointed questions from an objective point of view, and then listens closely to the answers. Eventually, the executive coach is like a beacon, guiding the executive to insight that would have been much more difficult to gain on his or her own.

Executive coaches are extremely adept at using strategic thinking. From the overall direction to the simple execution of day-to-day tasks, a great executive coach helps the executive overcome any obstacles that block the way to clarity.

Executive coaching can often involve other processes or tools to achieve desired results. Often, a program is developed which is relative to the executive’s current job description, such as sales, management, executive leadership, or assessments which develop and define benchmarks which can objectively measure growth. Many times, the executive coach develops a goal setting process complete with a worksheet, which provides a step-by-step plan to clarity.

Ultimately, clarity is attained through connectivity. It is necessary to connect specific talents, life experience and emotions to specific actions leading to specific results. Connectivity makes the entire process easier and more effective, and produces the best chance for long-term success and achievement of goals.

With clarity comes results. At its best, executive coaching can provide the missing pieces to the puzzle of effective leadership by helping the executive better connect to himself or herself, enabling clarity of thought and action. Executive coaching can also result in the executive being connected to a better network of people, with access to more resource of information.
