Accurate Assessment with Organisational Surveys


We have provided leadership development programs and executive coaching to many Perth businesses, and one of the cornerstones of our approach is the organisational survey. To move forward, it is mandatory for a business to know their current status.

To facilitate effective assessment of strengths and weaknesses, we currently offer what we feel is the most accurate technique available today: the Integral Organisation Survey (IOS).

The IOS is customised to each organisation that takes it, and is a great source of important information for moving a company forward. The IOS accurately reveals the culture and collective staff attitude of an organisation, and it also provides essential feedback on crucial aspects of creating and maintaining a successful organisation and a sustainable business model. In addition, the IOS provides a snapshot of an organisation’s strengths and weaknesses, which can help assess its current position and reveal what areas can be improved. This can help an organisation evolve by improving performance in crucial areas.

The IOS was created by Dr Ron Cacioppe and inspired by Ken Wilber’s concepts of human and integral organisational development. It employs creative metrics to assess development and performance within a model which consists of four different quadrants: culture, efficiency, effectiveness, well-being. The individual, team and organisation are all assessed within the four quadrants.

The survey is centred around 32 Integral Organisation Indicator (IOI) questions. These questions measure how people perceive their work environment and experience. The IOI can tell an organisation where they need improvement to attain balance within the organisation–across the four quadrants.

The results are compiled and then compared to more than 130 organisations and 17,000 responses, which constitute the National Survey Average (NSA). The NSA acts as a set of benchmarks to help an organisation assess its position compared to other organisations.

The IOS is created in six steps:

  • Define the important dimensions in need of surveying.
  • Create tailored and benchmarked questions.
  • Collect the results and generate profile reports.
  • Provide managers with profile reports.
  • Formulate and recommend a solid plan of action based on the results.
  • Measure improvements with a subsequent follow-up survey.

The survey is also customised to reflect issues within a company that aren’t covered by the 32 standard questions, providing the most relevant feedback available today.
